WAX INFO

Blossom bee candles are made from rapeseed, beeswax & coconut oil

RAPESEEDWAX
Rapeseed is a clear, yellow blooming plant. It's completely sustainable, with no issues of intensive farming or GMO presence. The oil coming from the rapeseed plant is not firm enough on its own to make candles from, so its mixed with other components. The rapeseed blend that we use is 100% eco.

BEESWAX
Bees hold great importance in nature and the economy. Pollinating flowers and producing honey/wax are their main tasks but they also play a keyrole in our ecosystem. Unfortunately not all beeswax is produced in a cruelty free way. For this reason we only work with local trusted beekeepers.

So, why beeswax candles?
Candles made from beeswax are the healthiest candles on the market and have numerous (health)benefits! We fell in love with them and working with beeswax is always a pleasure. Here are some fun facts & benefits:
  • Beeswax candles are rare and therefore more expensive than regular candles. Beeswax costs about 10 times more than parrafin, but they will burn up to 6 times longer than your average candle
  • It's estimated that the bees must fly 150,000 miles to collect enough nectar to produce 6 pounds of honey just to make one pound of wax
  • The only candle that emits negative ions into the air that purify, cleanse and improve airquality
  • 100% natural, chemical-free, free from toxins & GMO's
  • Hypo-allergenic, known to relieve symptoms for those with environmental allergies, sensitivities and asthma
  • They smell amazing without adding any fragrance and the light that beeswax candles produce is warm light, just like the sun!

PARAFFINWAX
Paraffin candles are made from a chemical wax and lighting them is not very good for your health. The toxins they release can cause health problems and can irritate your skin, eyes & respiratory system. More and more people these days are making the switch to a healthier lifestyle and the number of candle shops for soy candles is growing with the minute.
So what's up with soy?

SOYWAX
Soy comes mostly from genetically modified crops that are heavily sprayed with toxic pesticides. It is never a pure wax. Additives, bleach and hardeners are common ingredients of soy candles.
Today soy is one of the most grown crops worldwide. A big part of the global soy production  takes place in Brazil and it's unfortunately contributing to deforestation of the Amazon rainforest. Since 1990 the land for soyfarming expanded with more than 14% per year and now covers more than 8 million hectares. Even though most of the soy is produced for food to feed livestock, we prefer to avoid it.
